Abstract

The transport networks, their development and evolution respond to national and international development patterns settled along the time, or as well to the lack of them. Logistical and transportation deficiencies are part of the limitations and imbalances of national development. For a federal country like Argentina, the promotion of multiple centers with the capacity to link nationally and internationally from their endogenous capacities is critically important. We characterize the transport network within a broader national and international context, and the relationship between this network with other institutional, economic, and territorial dimensions. We analyze the transportation problem from multiple edges such as: their structure and evolution as a network; the energy matrices of transport, climate change and sustainable development; the development of new value chains (lithium batteries); the technological agenda of transport; physical integration with neighbouring countries; and the strengthening of the railway network.

In addition, we visualize major trends that identify the ‘agenda topics’ to take into account to analyze and project future scenarios in transport dynamics and policies.
