Abstract

This essay addresses the relationship between literary fiction and technical image, as it unfolds within the pages of a book jointly produced by a writer and a visual artist. Informe sobre ectoplasma animal plays with the report as a scientific genre and with a nineteenth-century photographic practice—Spirit Photography—to deal with the material dimension of the image and its links with scientific imagination. Set in the context of Irigoyenism and Peronism (along with the coups that put an end to those processes), the book also reflects on figuration, consumption, and the disciplining of masses, as well as the forms of visual, literary, and political representation.
