Abstract

The perception of continuous and sporadic or intermittent social noise was studied in pre-pandemic and intra-pandemic situations by Covid-19 in the Tres de Febrero district and surroundings. An exhaustive survey was carried out in order to compare the immission of environmental noises in both circumstances. Out of a total of 157 participants, 65% of those surveyed reported perceiving damage to their health due to noise before the pandemic, while 50% reported perceived damage during the pandemic, which suggests a direct relationship between noise from social activities and the damage to health.

We can affirm that there is an important statistical association between the perception of noise, discomfort and conditions observed, which demonstrates the existence of an acoustic suffering that involves more than half of the population studied.

The tool used (perception, annoyance, and damage survey) has proven to be sensitive and precise enough to assess acoustic suffering in a defined area, since it has the human being itself as its axis
