Abstract

This article presents interdisciplinary research into the study of the red-dishpointy colour of various national heritage objects. From a perspective cen-tred on the anthropology of matter and the archaeology of making, contrasted with the data offered by organic chemistry, it has been possible to identify for the first time the organic and inorganic elements that make up this colour, which had a very important symbolic role in a historical and political period of our na-tional history, such as the Rosista period. In this sense, the red-dotted badges functioned not only as a party badge but also participated as key elements of a programme of disciplining and political pedagogy that found in the bodies a powerful form of inscription. To learn about the etymology of the colour, its tech-nology and presence in the economic life of the time, is a contribution to the his-tory of this chromatic identity of the government of Juan Manuel de Rosas.
