Abstract
The objective of this text is to problematize, from the curatorial field, the use of organic materials in art pieces and projects to create powerful images that promote political discourses related to what is ephemeral, evanescent and the transitorial in museums and in the art field, in general. To do so, we will first dis-cuss on the power of organic materials in the contemporary art field, then we will describe the case of the exhibition 45 bodies by Teresa Margolles, that incorpo-rates suture thread used on autopsies of bodies deceased on violence related deaths in her artistic proposal, and finally we will analyze the importance of cu-ratorial discourse to rethink artistic and visual practices and its potential to over-turn the way the Latin American curatorial field operate.
