Abstract
This paper aims to trace some background referred to the inclusion of categories that involve new media and technological languages into the award system of local contemporary art. In this case, we consider Visual Arts Itaú Prize (Premio Itaú de Artes Visuales). As we understand, it conforms a strategic territory where to analyze how artistic-technological expressions are progressively being incorporated into spaces of legitimation of emergent art, producing readjustments in the evaluating standard and intervening in the conformation of a contemporary canon.
