Abstract

Following a process of reflection regarding the curatorial discourses developed within the National Museum of Fine Arts in Chile, in 2016 we opened the exhibition (en)clave Masculino. The main goal of the exhibition was to question the construction of gender. Highlighting the male body and presenting a feminist discourse, the exhibition provoked varied reactions recorded in ten notebooks with comments of the visiting public. The analysis of those books allows us to demonstrate the existing social constructs concerning corporal territories as well as potential interpretations of cultural activities perceived as politically “incorrect”.
