Abstract
Cimientos. 65 años del INBA: legados, donaciones y adquicisiones (Foundations. 65 years of the INBA: legacies, donations and acquisitions) had as its priority to move away from a tradition of excessive exposure in Mexico and display the heritage housed in the National Institute of Fine Arts, without the outdated triumphalist message which considered them to be “great masterpieces of Mexican art.” The idea was to exhaust the exercise of exhibiting within the government system of self-promotion, and set in the centre of debate the strengths and weaknesses of the mechanisms which the institute has implemented from 1946 to date as a means of enhancing its patrimony. So it was a question of reflecting and, at the same time, formulating proposals.
