Abstract
This paper aims to examine the creation of the Museum of Engraving and the circumstances of its development into the National Museum of Engraving. It will also study the initial features of the collection, which appears to having been receptive to the permanent incorporation of pieces that could hold a repository focused not only in the Argentine artistic production but also in the international graphic scene. We propose to search the itineraries of Oscar Pécora who, as collectionist, cultural promoter and public official, contributed to the definition of an important place given to the engraving in the local field, as his actions should be considered as being part of a wider group of iniciatives with similar goals during the 60´s and 70´s.
