For Christian Boltanski, permanent tension between art and life conforms an inextricably connected equation. Therefore, and beyond his works, the idea behind this dialogue is to approach some of the conceptual parameters in his aesthetic perspective, known as the “creative project”, that complex and occasionally troubled encounter between personal expressive needs and societal demands, which sometimes is explicit and others, implicit, but forever present.
In this sense, there will be several terms flying over this conversation: history, memory, time, archives, inventory-collection, individual and collective and, above all of them, life and death as necessary complementary pairs.
