Abstract
The terms "energy transition" are so frequently and routinely used these days that finding them in everyday life is no longer surprising. However, perhaps as a result of their very expansion, the meanings and senses of this expression have multiplied to such an extent that it can be said, with little risk of error, that they have a different meaning for each speaker who uses them. Our purpose is to undertake a first approach to elucidating these terms through four paths or avenues of analysis considering the specialized literature on energy. Two paths are etymological in nature, with which we will review the fundamental concepts involved. In the following two, the goal is to contribute to the understanding of the terms in question, as important tools for clarifying their definition, with separate explorations of their contents. In the final conclusions, we provide a critical look at the elucidation results obtained.
