Abstract

The Glyph3 /Woodwinds project consisted of the development of a TrueType font for notating woodwind instrument fingerings. The stage documented in this article involved the development of a visual web-based editing application —called Glyph3 /Woodwinds Editor— that allows users to build fingering diagrams by dragging and dropping font symbols onto an interactive grid. The tool was developed as part of a research project at the Institution, in collaboration with the artificial intelligence assistant Claude (Anthropic). The result is a single-file, portable, multilingual, open-source application distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, compatible with any music notation software that supports OpenType/TrueType fonts.
