The aim of this article is to reconstruct the itinerary of the old-age policies at the subnational government level –provincial and municipal– for the case of the city of Santa Fe. We focus especially on the policies oriented to the social welfare of the elderly during its recent evolution (years 2007-2016). We achieved this reconstruction based on the collection of sources of secondary information and semi-structured interviews. It is an exploratory, empirical work, that tries to contribute to the academic discussion and the management of public policies based on the analysis of a specific case, bearing in mind that research on the production of social welfare in the subnational government level constitutes a relative vacancy area.
