Abstract
This text, which introduces the dossier, sets down the axes displayed at a seminar with the participation of specialists on youth research in order to establish and deepen dialogue and exchanges at a regional level on the subject, not only with regard to the strictly academic developments, but also in terms of both the ways in which research on youth from the social sciences is currently linked to public policies, and the challenges that social research and public policy on youths in the region will have in the future.
The converging viewpoints on the fi eld of youth studies and the specialists´ reading keys to recognize youth in plural are discussed. This introduction underlines how inequality, time frames and intersections become analytical vectors from which the youths as an object of study are dissaggregated.
