Abstract
This paper aims to revisit a fieldwork experience with Argentine perpetrators tried for crimes against humanity, carried out between 2015 and 2017. Most of the retired officers were interviewed when they were detained in common prisons, were subject to widespread social condemnation, and were no longer in a position of power. Consequently, the aim is to reflect on how these particular conditions impacted the power dynamics between the interviewees and the researcher, the type of data collected, and the production of knowledge. Complementarily, some personal emotions that emerged in the interaction with the interviewees are reiterated, as this was an aspect that actively influenced the course of the research.
