Abstract

This article presents part of the analysis of the qualitative results obtained within the framework of a research project subsidized by the Ministry of Health of the City of Buenos Aires (CABA) in the period 2019-2021. Its objective was focused on identifying the barriers to access to health for people affected by Tuberculosis (TB) and this work focuses in particular on those related to homeless people (PSC).

For the analysis of the discourse, revealed from semi-structured interviews carried out with referents of the health teams and the Civil Society Organizations (CSO), the concept of "vulnerability" (De Carvalho Mesquita Ayres et al, 2006) and the analysis of “conditions that threaten life” (Butler, 2017; Marcon et al, 2021) in the case of PSCs suffering from TB in the context of the pandemic in CABA.

Second, the changes that the response to the COVID-19 pandemic implied, the preventive and isolation measures, such as updating “neo-hygienist” practices and discourses (Basile, 2020; Boy and Marcus, 2021) are analyzed. And thirdly, tensions are identified in the discourse of health teams that point to the risk of the appearance of neophilanthropism in the care of PSC affected by TB.
