The place of internationalization in the Institutional Development Plan of a public university in southern Brazil
Abstract
This qualitative documentary research followed the three fundamental stages of Content Analysis, comprising pre-analysis, exploration of the material and treatment of the results. The aim was to identify the place of internationalization in the Institutional Development Plan of a community university in southern Brazil. This document refers to the university's institutional policy, which provides guidelines for teaching, research, extension, culture, innovation and entrepreneurship. The document was analyzed in two movements: Identity of internationalization, which sought to locate concepts, guidelines and perspectives across the board in the IDP, and Developments in internationalization, which sought to identify strategies, practices and objectives to the development of internationalization processes at the institution. With regard to the theoretical framework, the studies of Trevisol and Fávero, Azevedo, Morosini, among others, supported the analysis and treatment of the data. The results indicated that internationalization occupies a prominent place in the university's IDP, alongside central institutional development issues such as diversity and culture and the inseparability of the teaching, research and extension. We understand that the university demonstrates a commitment to intercultural practices and actions aimed at all participants in the process, based on human and social development, in the search for a fairer and more supportive society.
