TENSIONS BETWEEN ACADEMIC INTERNATIONALIZATION AND SOCIAL INSERTION:
Abstract
The article discusses the organization and meanings of internationalization at the Federal University of Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri , as a federal institution less than two decades ago, located in the interior of Minas Gerais, in one of the most impoverished regions of the state. The analysis is carried out considering the specificities of the institution and its mission in terms of social insertion in parallel with international trends and higher education policies addressed to internationalization in the last decade. To this end, analysis of documents and data was used, considering institutional documents, such as the Institutional Development Plans (PDI), student mobility data, as well as surveying the literature on the subject.
