Research functions and their links with university teaching in the Argentine academic profession. Descriptive considerations from the international APIKS study
Abstract
This article aims to describe in an exploratory manner the research functions and their links with university teaching, considering them substantial in the exercise of the Argentine academic profession. To do this, it begins with a brief theoretical and epistemic journey around the object of study and its consolidation as a particular field of inquiry in higher education. Then, the centrality is occupied by the analysis of thematic sections derived from the APIKS (Academic Profession in the Knowledge) survey, supported by the productions carried out by the Research Group on Higher Education and Academic Profession of the National University of Mar del Plata. Regarding the design, the proposed research is classified within descriptive-correlational studies, of a cross-sectional type through surveys within the framework of the international APIKS research project. This document recovers the main aspects linked to the research function, the ways of characterizing it, the presentation in accordance with the expectations of the performance institutions, the level of financing received, the conditions of assignment and various communicating vessels with the exercise. of national university teaching.
